Former New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly asks:
It’s your right to own a gun. But do you really want to?

New York City, June 27th, 2016 -

Amid a frustratingly familiar debate over gun control sparked by the latest mass shooting, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence (NYAGV) is launching a powerful and unique public education campaign focused on anyone who might be tempted to think that owning a gun would make them safer at home. “The overwhelming odds are that if you keep a gun in the home, you’ll use it on yourself or someone you love,” said Leah Gunn Barrett, executive director of NYAGV. Former Police Commissioner Ray Kelly introduces three public service announcements that highlight this reality. “For reasons both substantive and political, meaningful gun control is nowhere in sight,” said Ray Kelly, who is the longest serving commissioner of the NYPD in history. “This campaign is focused not on lawmakers, but their constituents, the American people. Owning a gun is an American right, however, actually having a firearm at home can be a real danger, and that is too often overlooked in the current debate.”
